Admission Testing for Grades 1 - 12

Admission Testing for Grades 1 - 12

Saint James School has a complete admissions evaluation process, where acceptance and prediction to succeed is based on the student’s academic history and the admissions testing results. Our test proctors will provide the students with pencils, beverages and snacks, as well as periodic breaks throughout the testing. Our goal is to do all we can to ensure comfort and confidence for these students as they are testing! Below is an outline of the requirements for each grade level:

We will offer 3 group Saturday test dates to our applicants this year.  (8:00am-12:00pm)

  • December 2, 2017
  • January 13, 2018
  • April 7, 2018

Students who are unable to test on one of our Saturday scheduled dates should call our Admissions Office to set up an individual test time during a week-day. If you are moving to Montgomery and are unable to take the ISEE with us, students may take this test at any of the ISEE test sites.  Please refer to the ISEE website to locate a convenient test site for you.

Important points about our testing:

  • A Saint James School Application Form and Application Fee must be submitted online or delivered to the school before applicants for grades 2-12 can be eligible to take our admissions test. Once we have the application and fee, we will give you an Invitation Code so that you can sign up to take the ISEE with us at Saint James School. Please note: the ISEE test fee of $110.00 is payable to ISEE at the time of registration.
  • ERB will provide test results to parents approximately two weeks after the test is taken.
  • Students should not require any special preparation for the ISEE as it is comparable, in terms of directions and items on the test, to tests administered annually in their classrooms.
  • This link will help you and your child prepare for ISEE, which is the Admissions Test we use for grades two through twelve.

Please keep in mind that the admissions test is just one area we consider when we are determining admission into our school.  The test results provide us with a common denominator, given that students apply to Saint James School from so many different schools and bring with them their own individual qualities. As the President of ETS has shared, "...a group that devises and administers a number of standardized tests, once said, multiple-choice tests can’t '...assess the glint in a student’s eye.'" We wholeheartedly agree.
