Saint James School Choir
The choral program at Saint James School focuses on building well-rounded vocalists specializing in a wide variety of styles, languages, and time periods. The Middle School and High School Chorus compete regularly in assessments and competitions, consistently winning state and national accolades. Both choirs are sought out to perform throughout the area, such as at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and the Governor’s Mansion. They have also performed in national venues such as Carnegie Hall. Students participate annually in state-wide festivals including All State and Young Voices.
The choral program is under the direction of Dr. Sallye York. Dr. York is an accomplished pianist and collaborator and adjudicates regularly throughout the region. She has worked in a wide variety of ensemble settings, including orchestras, operas, musical theater productions, ballet companies, and chamber ensembles. Dr. York has taught every level of music education, but she finds her true passion working with the creativity of middle school and high school students.
