Varsity Boys Basketball

STJ Girls Basketball

Saint James competes in boys and girls basketball in the Alabama High School Athletic Association in Class 4A Area 4. The varsity basketball team competes with teams within our Area to determine who goes to the class 4A State Playoff. The team also competes with other AHSAA schools, both in and out of Class 4A, during the regular season. The boys and girls varsity teams are selected by the coaches from the best basketball players in grades 7- 12. The varsity teams usually consist of 9th-12th graders and occasionally will have a student from a lower grade. Katie Barton is the girls varsity head coach and Nigel Card is the boys varsity head coach.

The junior varsity team competes with other ASHAA teams, both in and out of Class 4A. The junior varsity team usually plays many of the same teams as the varsity teams and competes in an end-of-the-year tournament with other teams in the Capital City Conference.

Saint James also fields two middle school basketball teams for both girls and boys. These athletes must meet the same eligibility standards for both Saint James School and the ASHAA as the varsity players. These teams consist of 7th and 8th grade athletes who hope to progress in the basketball program. The middle school teams compete with other AHSAA teams and specific teams in the Capital City Conference. The middle school teams compete in a Capital City Conference tournament at the end of the season.
