English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutoring Program
Saint James School is Montgomery's independent school leader in providing a comprehensive English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring program for international students. English Language Learners (ELLs) in elementary, middle, and high school are tutored by an experienced instructor to help facilitate a successful transition to an English-speaking school. Students meet with the instructor in small, age-appropriate groups on campus during the school day.
Students receive academic assistance for core classes through this program and strengthen their overall English language proficiency. The ELL tutor maintains close contact with classroom teachers and school counselors to pinpoint the specific needs of each student. As a result, classroom instruction is more meaningful and students adapt more quickly to our college preparatory academic environment. In addition, enhanced English skills allow students to make friends and become involved in extra-curricular programs and activities thus enriching their overall Saint James School experience.
