Activities
6th Grade
- Attend a production at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival
- Conduct an intense study of ancient cultures, including a field trip to Elmore County’s Jasmine Hill Gardens (with its famous replicas of Greek statuary)
- Explore additional math proficiency through competitions and fun activities with the Sixth Grade Math Club and Explore Math course
- Explore additional science proficiency through the Science Olympiad competition program
- Learn artistic self-expression through an award winning elective visual arts program and Explore Art course
- Engage in the performing arts through chorus, band, and theater electives and extracurricular opportunities
- Continue to expand their knowledge of Spanish through Explore Language course
- Build technology literacy through the Explore Technology course
- Discover cross curricular connections during an interdisciplinary study of Ancient Egyptian Culture culminating in a field trip to Anniston Natural History Museum and “Egypt Day”
7th Grade
- Attend a production at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival
- The class travels to Chattanooga, TN and visits the Tennessee Aquarium, the Hunter Museum of American Art, and Rock City.
- Learn artistic self-expression through an award-winning elective visual arts program
- Participate in a full range of athletic team opportunities
- Engage in the performing arts, through award-winning electives in chorus and band
- Explore additional science proficiency through the national Science Olympiad competition program.
- Students can participate in a competition robotics team after school.
- All students engage in a Take Your Chances program designed to strengthen the understanding of probability and odds in a fun and engaging manner. After school, students can participate on a competition math team program.
- Students study the French language and Francophone cultures in a Language Exploratory class.
8th Grade
- Attend a production at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival
- Travel with the class to Washington, D. C. and tour the nation's capital
- Explore a variety of occupations by shadowing currently employed professionals during our uniquely designed Saint James 8th Grade Career Week.
- Participate in a full range of athletic team opportunities
- Engage in the performing arts, through award winning electives in chorus, band, and theater
- Gain confidence though successful public speaking with Eighth Grade Speech and Debate
- Learn artistic self-expression through an award-winning elective visual arts program
- Explore additional science proficiency through the national Science Olympiad competition program.
- After school, students can participate on a competition robotics team.
- Students study Spanish in a Language Exploratory class.
