In the spring of 2002, the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) was established to introduce students grades sixth to twelfth to the sport of equestrian. From just 200 riders in the beginning, the IEA has grown to 13,500 members in over 42 states. Saint James School began their IEA participation in 2011 with 16 student riders from middle school and high school.
We are the only school in the state of Alabama having a hunt seat team competing with other barn and independent riders. Our season consists of horse shows with teams from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, and South Carolina. STJ has competed in post season championships for individual riders as well as team qualifying.
Any level of riding is accepted on the team from walk trot to jumping 2’6”. If you are interested in learning more about the STJ Jumpers, please contact Lane Sullivan at Sulli911@bellsouth.net or call 334.590.7656.
